From the College Website Since ancient years, Indian women were kept submerged in all the aspects, both inside and outside of their shelter. As years passed, there comes freedom in ascending powers to women in many aspects such as education, work, house and so. Nowadays, women are empowered in many challenging tasks, even up to the level of Prime minister. But, this is the case of urban areas only. But at the same time rural women are found handicapped in all these aspects. The prime thing to bring rural women, out of these difficulties is education. This context paved way for inception of a technical education college, Sri Bharathi Engineering College for Women, the first college started only for women in Pudukottai, is named after the famous poet and freedom fighter, Bharathiyar, as he fought for women freedom. This college is started in rural area by Sri Bharathi Educational Trust, in the year 2009, mainly to inculcate quality education for rural women. It is located at about 6 Km from pudukkottai on the pudukkottai Aranthangi road, near Kaikuruchi. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Tiruchirappalli.
