Ranganathan Engineering College was established by Ranganathan Rajeswari Charitable Trust, Coimbatore in 2007. The Trust was formed in order to provide equal opportunity to all the youth who aspire to be engineers and managers in various areas of specialization and to offer engineering and management education particularly to the rural students of India. Ranganathan Rajeswari Charitable Trust was launched by Dr.P.Tamilarasi Murugesan, an experienced academician with 30 years of exposure to education with a view to establishing a centre of excellence in Coimbatore Dr.P.Tamilarasi Murugesan has travelled far and wide and collected valuable information from various centres of learning around the world. Ranganathan Engineering College (REC) aims at offering innovative career-oriented engineering and management courses to the younger generation, the future torch bearers of industrial India. REC is located at the panoramic slopes of Velliangiri and Maruthamalai Hills that are branching out of the Western Ghats. With its sylvan setting the college has been built at a distance of just 20 km from Coimbatore Railway Station and the Central Bus Stand at Gandhipuram. Well-planned super structure of the college is located near Viraliyur beyond Thondamuthur, spanning well over 15 acres of serene land."
